Google Announced Chrome OS Targeting Netbook

There has been rumors about Google releasing OS for quite a while, and Google finally did. Google recently announced on Google blog that they will be realeasing a Linux-base, open-source OS which will be a lightweight system with minimal user interface. They called it the Google Chrome OS. It will have minimal interface just like Google Chrome web browser, and will mainly targeting netbook computers. It’s expected to be available on netbooks in the 2nd half of 2010.


Skytone – First Netbook That Runs Google Android

Skytone Alpha 680, manufactured by a Chinese electronic maker, is the first consumer oriented netbook that runs powered Google Android operating system.


The netbook has a 533MHz ARM11 Processor, 7 inch, 800 x 480 resolution touchscreen display with a swivel, which allows you to fold it down over the keyboard for use in tablet mode.

Skytone co-founder Nixon Wu tells ComputerWorld that the netbook will cost at about $250.
